I got this Swingball for my 8-year old son as something new for the summer. It is great for him to play by himself (and improve hand-eye coordination). And it is good for him to play with mom, dad, cousins or friends. Dad and son have a lot of fun playing together and either one has a good chance of “winning”.
I like the portability feature – how it all breaks down and fits into the base. We recently took it with us on July 4th to a large family gathering. It is very light, easy to carry and set up with access to water (or dirt). I think by the end of the day, almost everyone played at least once!
I am curious to see how durable it is. We live in Georgia and it is set up out in the sun all the time. We’ll see how the plastic holds up!

Our kids received Swingball for Christmas and have been playing non stop since. Because it is winter, we set it up inside the house on the hardwood floors and instead of putting water or sand in the base as suggested, we loaded it up with books. Our 3 children love to play it all the time. It is great fun, and perfect for little ones to learn eye-hand coordination. One warning, 2 of our children got cuts on the insides of their thumbs at the holes where the screws are on the plastic racket handles. We’re guessing it was from sharp edges on the plastic. We wrote to the manufacturer and received no reply. We just placed some tape over the edges and they are good to go. Shop around for prices. We got this for $29 from a major department store.

We bought this as a present for our 6 year old son. However, his 10 year old brother and I, his father, have had as much fun with it as the 6 year old. We have it in our basement for rainy days. The issues with instability are lessened if the base is filled with sand instead of water. You can buy a bag of play sand at Kmart for about $4 and your’re ready to go! I would recommend this for ages 6 and up, because our 4 year old son seems to be too small to play with it.

This is a good product for beginners. It is not so sturdy as someone mentioned but the thing is not to hit so hard as to knock down any opponent. My 9 year old uses it mainly to improve on his forehand and backhand strokes, position of the racket is important and be consistent with each stroke when hitting the ball. Hitting hard is not going to make the player any better. I filled up a couple of zip log bags with river rocks and it holds it down good, without hitting the ball too hard.

I saw this product at a friend’s home and thought it would be perfect for my grandchildren. Great for ages 3-7 for hand/eye coordination and for continuous play (cord does not wrap around pole like tetherball). Very satisfied with the product.
