Cute sandbox with a few VERY major flaws. The wood is unsealed and untreated and the side benches are very unstable. Also, the canopy, though a great idea, mildews very quickly and the colors fade fast!
I bought my sandbox about 8 months ago and thought that it was just great for about a month – until the 2 side benches began to wobble a lot (and with only a 25 lb. toddler sitting on them). 2 of the 4 benches have essentially no support other than a couple of screws that hold the benches to the upright side boards.
Even more disappointing is that I found out that this sandbox is manufactured to sell, not to last. It’s obviously an outdoor product, but the wood is unsealed and untreated and was COMPLETELY destroyed by termites from the ground within 6 months. (I live in Nashville, TN, so this sandbox wasn’t in some strange climate.) The sandbox had to be torn down and we’ve since rebuilt one using treated wood. The only salvageable part of the original Play Wonder sandbox was the little frame that holds the canopy.
This sandbox is a complete waste of the $$$ we paid for it. DO NOT BUY THIS SANDBOX!!!
